Oyster Bay Standing Storm Damage Dilemma
SERVPRO technicians arrived at this Oyster Bay home to find nearly an inch of standing water in the basement, causing flood damage. The sump pump was not working, so the technicians used their portable pumps to rapidly remove the water. Unfortunately, the water had time to wick into the sheetrock. As seen in the After Photo, several inches of flood cuts were necessary to dry the interior next to the cinder block walls due to seepage. Fortunately, the homeowner moved nearly everything that had been in the basement out before the water became too high, which streamlined the restoration process as there were no furnishings or other items to work around.
