Flood Damage Creeps into Oyster Bay Basement
When heavy rains brought flood damage into the finished basement of this Oyster Bay home, SERVPRO techs needed to perform a significant amount of controlled demolition tactics to open up the area for extraction and drying purposes. They moved the metal filing cabinets and small tables and chairs out of the room. Then removed the water from the carpet before cutting it into manageable strips for safe disposal. The floodwater migration through the carpet and into the walls damaged the area throughout the basement, and the techs needed to use flood cuts to save as much of the walls as possible. The techs left the plumbing and electrical wiring in place and only removed roughly two feet of the wall to dry the area and prep it for repairs.
